Simone Häckel studied art at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and Experimental Media at the Berlin University of the Arts where she received her Meisterschülerinnen degree in 2008.

Her interest lays in sites, people and human action beyond the visible. In her work she examines the aspirations and dreams of humans and the state of humanity as such, beyond its outer physique. By using documentary techniques she draws topographies of the desires and realities of children and adults.

Her work is represented in various collections including Burger Collection, Hong Kong, the Teutloff Video Collection in Bielefeld, Germany and the Gideon Collection in Geneva, Switzerland.

Simone Häckel received several scholarships and prizes ( i.e. grand for Video and Film, Berliner Senat) and has presented her work in numerous solo shows, group exhibitions and festivals in venues like the Viper/ Internationales Festival für Film, Video und neue Medien in Basel and European Media Art Festival EMAF in Osnabrück, Germany, the Museum Salzburg, Deutsches Hygiene Museum, Dresden, Gallery 1Shanthiroad, Bangalore, Indien.
